OUR VISION FOR
HORACE ROAD
THE CURRENT SITE
The site is located at the northern end of Horace Road and is in close proximity to the Hogsmill River, providing an excellent opportunity to reintroduce a landscaped river edge and improve connectivity between residents and the site’s natural assets.
The site was originally operated by approximately 44 staff, including both full-time and casual roles.
It supported over 40 funerals per week, with crews working throughout the day.
Standard hours were 08:30–17:00, with occasional earlier starts (from 07:00) and later finishes (up to 18:00).
On a typical day, around 10 ceremonial vehicles operated from the site, along with up to two ambulances, depending on demand. One ambulance was also on call overnight (17:00–08:30) to respond to first calls.
Overall, site use was consistent, with vehicle movements spread across the day.

PROPOSED SITE LAYOUT

Above, you can see the most recent iteration of our site layout.
As shown, the parking court currently includes two spaces designated for disabled use only.
We are also proposing the introduction of a car club, intended to serve both the development and the surrounding community.
VISUALS
The CGI below illustrates the proposed frontage onto Horace Road. The suburban character of Horace Road has informed our design approach, allowing us to draw inspiration from the surrounding streetscape. This is reflected in our choice of a lighter brickwork for the facade, which responds sensitively to the local context while introducing a fresh and contemporary aesthetic.
At the same time, the proposal presents an opportunity to revitalise and positively contribute to the Horace Road community, enhancing both its visual identity and residential offering.
We believe this will be an iconic building - one that stands the test of time while delivering much-needed housing in a manner that is both architecturally distinctive and environmentally responsible.

The CGI below illustrates the proposed internal courtyard space, which has been designed to introduce planting and greenery to a site that is currently entirely hard surfaced. This approach aims to enhance communal amenity to our residents while contributing to a more attractive and sustainable environment.
